The Living World in Amber (1)

Images from Millions of Years Past

by Volker Arnold

New: Images and animations of amber inclusions made with a laser-scan-microscope: amazing sharpness in a 3D-space!

These images are from my collection with the exception of the flower, leaf, and male flower tap.

Mammalian hairs in Bitterfeld amber
In a piece of Bitterfeld amber I found these mammal hairs (from a time, in which the mammal development was still not so advanced). They are much finer than human hair and clearly scaled. A determination is still pending for this piece and approximately 15 others with mammal hair. I need help from a specialist! E-mail is desired!
